Last updated: June 2026
The Makery Inc. ("The Makery," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information of you and your family. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. It applies to our website, booking system, and related services.
We handle personal information in accordance with Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

Children's information
Our services are booked by parents and guardians, not by children. When you provide information about your child, you do so as their parent or guardian and consent to our collection and use of that information for the purposes described here, including their care and safety while at The Makery. We treat children's information, especially allergy and health details, as sensitive and limit access to staff who need it.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Set up and manage your account and bookings.
- Process payments, gift cards, promo codes, and class packs.
- Send booking confirmations, receipts, reminders, and important service messages.
- Keep children safe by making relevant allergy and health information available to staff.
- Manage waivers and emergency contacts.
- Respond to your messages and provide support.
- Send newsletters or promotions, only if you have asked to receive them.
- Operate, improve, and secure our services, and meet our legal and safety obligations.
Your consent
By providing your information and using our services, you consent to the collection, use, and sharing of your information as described in this policy. You may withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual limits, by contacting us. Note that withdrawing consent for certain information may mean we can no longer provide a booking or service.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with trusted service providers who help us run The Makery, and only as needed to deliver our services:
- Supabase stores our database (hosted in Canada).
- Stripe securely processes payments.
- Resend sends our emails.
- Netlify hosts our website.
- Basecamp helps our team manage day-to-day operations.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of a child, our staff, or others.
Where your information is stored
Our database is hosted in Canada. Some of our service providers (for example, our payment and email providers) may process information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of that country. We choose reputable providers that protect your information with appropriate safeguards.
How we protect your information
We use technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information, including encryption, access controls that limit staff access to what they need, and security practices designed to prevent unauthorized access. No system is perfectly secure, but we take protecting your family's information seriously.
How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide our services, and afterward only as long as required to meet legal, accounting, or safety obligations. When it is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymize it.

Under Alberta and Canadian privacy law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you and your family.
- Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Ask us to delete information, subject to legal limits.
- Withdraw your consent.
- Make a complaint about how we handle your information.
To make any of these requests, email us at info@themakeryspace.com. We may need to verify your identity first.
Marketing emails
We only send newsletters or promotional emails to people who have asked to receive them. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in those emails, or by contacting us. We will still send you essential service messages, such as booking confirmations and receipts.
Cookies
We use cookies that are necessary to keep you signed in and to operate the booking system. These are not used for advertising. If we add analytics or other optional cookies in the future, we will update this policy.
